Welcome to the MIT Department of Play Summer Institute 2010!

What

This workshop will gather researchers and practitioners from different parts of the world to brainstorm and rethink the role of technology in youth participation, social inclusion and local civic engagement. By the end, we expect to come up with common agendas and facilitate meaningful collaborations for future projects.

When

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010 (9am - 5pm plus dinner)
Wednesday, August 11th, 2010 (9am - 2pm)

Where

MIT Media Lab, Room E14-240 (http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=E14)
MIT Physics Department, Pappalardo Room 4-439 (http://whereis.mit.edu/?go=4)

How

This workshop will take the format of "World Café", a methodology for hosting conversations about questions that matter. These conversations link and build on each other as people move between groups formed around particular questions, cross-pollinate ideas, and discover new insights into the questions or issues that are most important in their life, work, or community.

In the Department of Play World Café, we will present provocative propositions to participants to form mini-working groups, and ponder, discuss, and debate ideas and opinions among each other.
